Description
Tisza Lake and the saline steppes of Hortobágy are one of the most attractive countrysides in Hungary, which is good for recreation, bicycle tours, water sports (water-skiing, surfing, yachting, boating, kayaking, canoeing, jet-skiing), angling, hunting and hiking. There is a round the lake cycle path (70 km) constructed in 2007 on top of the dams, which is suitable also for elderly people and families with small children
The folk architecture and artistic crafts (pottery, saddle-making, etc.) of the settlements around the lake are famous throughout the country. Their characteristic folk costumes can mainly be seen in the country houses nowadays. The trip routes run through several landscape units located around the Tisza Lake, some of these being protected areas.
